The Ph.D. program in Sociology at the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya aims to facilitate and motivate research on recent developments in sociology. Introduced in 2011, the program responds to the demand for substantive knowledge of contemporary social problems, debates, and phenomena. It enables students to apply and innovate theories and methodologies specific to their area of study, addressing important scientific problems, particularly in the region. The program also aims to develop substantive knowledge among students on contemporary social issues, debates, and phenomena, enabling them to produce original academic writings for various audiences.
