MSW
Master of Social Work (MSW) 2 year full time course has been designed by Dibrugarh University to promote career growth in Social Work. The course provides an understanding of the history and philosophy of Social Work and its emergence as a profession.The course curriculum offers the understanding about the need and importance of Social Work Education,Training and Practice.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
- To acquire knowledge on the development of Social Work and use it as a profession.
- To understand the need and importance of Social Works Education in the present society.
- To gain insight into the Indian Society, the changes therein and its problems.
- To enhance the acquaintance with the concepts of community and its dynamics.
- To understand community organization as a method of Social Work and as an effective tool for development.
Any Graduate with 45% from Dibrugarh University or any other University recognized as such by the University (40 percent for SC/ST/OBC) in aggregate, is eligible to apply for admission into the 2 year MSW Programme.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Selection of candidates shall bemade on the basis of NERIM Entrance Test (NET) for SocialWorks.The entrance test shall be both subjective and objective type question comprising of topics related to Social issues and general awareness.
N.B.: Eligibility criteria and other procedure such as for Admission and Examination is subject to change from time to time as per the notification of the University.
REQUIREMENT OF CLASSROOM ATTENDANCE
A student of MSW(2 year Full Time programme) shall have to attend minimum 85 % of total classes in each paper to be eligible to appear in each semester end examination.
EXAMINATION SYSTEM (AS PER DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY REGULATIONS)
(a) To be eligible to appear in the MSW End Semester Examinations as a regular candidate, a student must attend 85% of the lectures delivered during the academic session. A student who attends at least 75% of the lectures delivered shall, however, be allowed to appear in the Examination as a non-collegiate candidate on payment of a prescribed fee.
(b) The semester examination shall be divided into two groups: ODD and EVEN (i.e. Odd semester: First and Third. Even Semester: Second and Fourth.)
(c) A candidate who fails or doesnot appear in one or more subjects of any end-semester examination will be provisionally promoted to the next higher semester with the failed subjects as carry over subjects. Such candidate will be eligible to appear in the carry over subjects in the next examinations of those subjects. However, the following restrictions will be applicable.
(i) A candidate shall be allowed maximum 5 years to complete the course of MSW.
(ii) A candidate shall be entitled to a maximum of two chances (excluding the first regular examination) to clear a subject. If a candidate fails to clear a subject even after the two chances, he/she has to repeat the semester with admission.
(iii) lf a student clears the fourth semester examination before clearing all the subjects of the previous semesters, the result of the fourth semester examination of that candidate shall be withheld and his/her results shall be announced only after he/she clears the subjects of the previous semesters.
(iv) In order to pass in a subject, a candidate shall have to pass in all the parts separately.
AWARD OF DEGREE
Candidate who has passed all the semester examinations shall be declared to have passed the Master of Social Work (MSW). Candidates securing 60% or more marks in aggregate shall be placed in the first class; candidates securing less than 60% marks in aggregate shall be placed in the second class.
