MSc Physics – USTM

The Department of Physics offers a postgraduate program of MSc in Physics, following the CBCS pattern of the UGC. The curriculum covers advanced theory-based coursework in classical and modern physics, including Mathematical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electronics, Condensed Matter Physics, and Computational Physics. Elective papers are available from the third semester onwards.

The practical courses are designed to complement the theoretical aspects, providing students with hands-on experience in instrument handling, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. The program also includes training for various competitive and national-level tests.

In the final semester, students undertake a project work worth eight credits, focusing on a specific research topic. This project allows students to delve deeply into academic research, preparing them for further studies in research and development fields and enhancing their skills.
