MA English – USTM
The Master of Arts (MA) in English program at USTM is designed to provide students with an advanced understanding of the English language, literature, and its cultural contexts. The program offers a combination of core courses and electives that cover various aspects of English studies, including literature, linguistics, critical theory, and cultural studies. Students are encouraged to engage critically with texts, theories, and debates in the field of English studies, and to develop their own research interests and projects.
Aims and Objectives of MA English curriculum:
- To provide students with a deep and comprehensive understanding of English literature, its historical development, and its cultural significance.
- To develop students' critical thinking, analytical, and research skills through the study of a wide range of texts and contexts.
- To enhance students' ability to engage with literary and cultural theory, and to apply theoretical frameworks to the analysis of texts.
- To foster creativity and originality in students' writing and research, and to encourage them to develop their own voices as scholars and critics.
- To prepare students for further academic study or professional work in fields related to English language and literature.
The MA English program also emphasizes the development of advanced research skills, writing proficiency, and the ability to engage with complex ideas and arguments.
