BA LL.B. (Hons) – NEF Law College

The college offers a Five-Year Integrated Law program, which, upon successful completion, earns students a B.A., LL.B. (Honours) Degree awarded by Gauhati University.

The duration of the B.A., LL.B. (Honours) degree course is five academic years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, with each semester having an average of 100 working/teaching days. The academic terms typically run from July to December and January to June.

The Five-year B.A., LL.B. (Honours) course is a full-time program, and students are not permitted to pursue any other course simultaneously. Admission can be cancelled at any stage for violation of this rule.

In addition to the core curriculum, the Five-Year Integrated Law program offers a wide range of elective courses, internships, and extracurricular activities to enhance students' legal education. The program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both arts and law, enabling them to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of legal principles.

Students are exposed to various aspects of the legal profession through moot court competitions, legal aid clinics, parliamentary debates, and internships with law firms, NGOs, and government agencies. These practical experiences help students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world legal issues and develop essential lawyering skills.

The program also focuses on holistic development, encouraging students to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities such as legal aid camps, seminars, workshops, and cultural events. This helps students develop communication skills, leadership qualities, and a sense of social responsibility.

Eligibility Criteria

(a) A candidate for admission to the Five Year Integrated B.A.,LL.B. (Hons) course must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination securing in aggregate not less than 45% of the total marks for general candidates, not less than 42% for OBC category and 40% for SC/ ST candidates as per latest Bar Council of India Rules.

(b) Aged not more than 20 years for general category applicants & 22 years for SC/ST candidates
