BA in Music – MIT Shillong
The BA in Music program offers a comprehensive exploration of music as an academic discipline and an art form. The course blends theoretical studies with practical performance, aiming to develop students’ musical abilities, creativity, and critical thinking. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of music history, theory, composition, and diverse musical genres, while also refining their skills in instrumental or vocal performance.
Throughout the program, students will engage in solo and ensemble performances, learn music analysis, and explore the cultural, social, and historical contexts of music. The curriculum covers areas such as Western classical music, world music traditions, music technology, and contemporary music practices. The course also offers opportunities for specialization in areas like music education, composition, music production, or ethnomusicology.
