B.Sc. in Human Physiology – Holy Cross College
The Department of Human Physiology at Holy Cross College offers a B.Sc. program that delves into the intricate workings of the human body. Established in 2012 as an elective course, it gained approval to be offered as an Honours course in 2016 by Tripura University.
Human physiology is a vital science that bridges the gap between basic science, medicine, and health. It explores the functions of human organs and the cells that constitute them, unraveling the mysteries of molecular, cellular, and organ interactions. At the undergraduate level, our program aims to foster academic excellence, introducing students to the cutting-edge knowledge in human physiology.
Our curriculum is comprehensive, covering practical modules in hematology, experimental physiology, biochemical techniques, nutritional physiology, molecular biology, and microbiology. Lecture modules encompass diverse topics such as neuroscience, regulatory physiology, neuromuscular physiology, perspectives in physiology research, and cell signaling.
Interdisciplinary courses further enrich our students' learning experience, incorporating biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, ergonomics, nutrition, statistics, and more. Initially admitting twenty students, we have expanded our intake to forty seats, reflecting the growing interest and demand for our program.
In addition to academic rigor, we emphasize practical skills and real-world applications. Our students actively participate in social outreach programs, internships, field studies, and study trips, gaining hands-on experience and a holistic understanding of human physiology.
Looking ahead, we aspire to launch a PG course in Human Physiology and establish a dedicated Molecular Biology & Cell Culture Laboratory. Our ultimate goal is to provide quality education and foster all-round personality development, preparing our students to become competent leaders in the field of physiology.
