The B.Ed. Special Education (Hearing Impairment) course is designed to provide essential tools and resources for a better future for many individuals. Unique to the North East States, this course is a privilege within the department. It aims to eliminate the negative connotations of disability and empower students to become educators who can make a difference in the lives of others.

The program covers various aspects, including the requirements and patterns of multiple disabilities, the importance of special education in Indian society, and understanding the mental psychology of differently-abled students. It also focuses on designing, researching, and managing educational aspects for special children, incorporating tech-friendly practices for audiology and aural rehabilitation, and emphasizing speech therapy and teaching methods for hearing-impaired students.

Upon completion of the course, students become eligible to work as special educators and teachers in special and inclusive schools, offering them a future where they can help others like them. The course encompasses teaching strategies and studies to meet the needs of differently-abled children, utilizing scientific equipment and techniques, including a dedicated laboratory for learning sign language, pure tone audiometry, tuning fork tests, and speech training.

Internship programs are also conducted to provide hands-on experience in special and inclusive schools, helping students understand the needs of special children and their learning environments. The course is aligned with national education policies, focusing on need-based education for disabled children.

Arunachal University of Studies has formulated this program to equip students with the knowledge and skills to effectively teach hearing-impaired children. The university aims to identify and address the special needs of hearing-impaired children, enabling them to lead lives with freedom, self-respect, and dignity. Through its inclusive atmosphere and evaluation system, AUS aims to train and teach students to set standards in cognitive and skillful domains.
