NEF Law College, established in 2006, is renowned as a premier center for legal education in Eastern India. It was founded to address the need for a top-tier law institution in the region and is modeled after other esteemed national and international law colleges. The college offers five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and B Com LLB (Hons) courses, as well as three-year LLB and Masters of Law (LLM) programs under the affiliation of Gauhati University.

The college boasts permanent affiliation with Gauhati University and approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi. Additionally, it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the UGC Act, 1956, and the Department of Higher Education, Government of Assam. As a minority institution under the NCMEI Act, 2004, NEF Law College is dedicated to promoting legal education in the Northeast region, particularly among the youth, to nurture them into responsible citizens.
