Established in 1988, the Assam Institute of Management (AIM) operates as an autonomous institute under the Government of Assam, addressing management inefficiencies and the shortage of trained professionals identified through diagnostic studies. Originally under the Public Enterprises Department, a Cabinet Resolution in 1997 shifted its reporting department to the Directorate of Technical Education.
AIM goes beyond imparting management education, actively engaging in research, consultancy, and management development programs. Pioneering well-designed educational initiatives in the North-East, AIM has conducted over 300 Management Development Programs, benefiting participants from government, semi-government, and private sector organizations. The institute's graduates are employed in esteemed organizations across India and internationally. Recognized nationally for faculty research, AIM continues to grow and adapt, cognizant of the challenges it faces in the evolving landscape of management education.
Vision:
AIM envisions fostering the growth and development of the strategically positioned and resource-rich North Eastern Region of India by establishing robust human capital infrastructure. Recognizing the significance of management education, training, and development, AIM aspires to address the root cause of relative underdevelopment in the North East Region by enhancing manpower capabilities.
Mission:
AIM is committed to becoming a CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE in the field of Management and allied disciplines. The institute aims to achieve this by conducting effective teaching, training, research, consultancy, and networking activities. By excelling in these areas, AIM seeks to contribute significantly to the development of skilled professionals and the overall progress of the North Eastern Region.
